Zoom and emphasis that direct the viewer's eye

A raw screen recording asks the viewer to hunt for what matters. ScreenTailor lets you zoom into the action and call out the exact spot — so a click, a menu or a tiny detail is impossible to miss. It's a native macOS screen recorder with zoom and emphasis built into the editor.

Zoom into what matters

Add a zoom anywhere on the timeline and the view glides in to the region you choose, then eases back out — smooth, animated motion rather than a hard cut. Set how far to zoom and where to focus, and pair it with a slow pan to follow the action across the screen.

Add an eased zoom to any moment on the timeline.

Emphasis tools

When a full zoom is more than you need, direct attention with a lighter touch:

  • Spotlight — dim everything except the area you're talking about.
  • Magnifier — a lens that enlarges one spot while the rest of the frame stays put.
  • Arrows — point straight at the button or field that matters.
  • Glow — a soft highlight to make a region pop without hiding context.

Trim dead air and retime

Zoom works best on a tight cut. On the same zoomable timeline you can trim the dead air, retime a section to speed it up or slow it down, and land each zoom exactly where the action happens.

How it works

  1. Record your screen, or open an existing recording in ScreenTailor.
  2. On the timeline, add a zoom at the moment you want to emphasize.
  3. Set the target area, how far to zoom, and the easing so it glides in and out.
  4. Preview it live, then export a share-ready MP4.

Frequently asked questions

Can you zoom in on a screen recording on a Mac?

Yes. In ScreenTailor you add a zoom on the timeline at the moment you want it; the view glides in and back out with smooth easing, so you can highlight a click or detail without re-recording.

What's the difference between zoom and the magnifier?

Zoom scales the whole frame into a region so the viewer follows the action. The magnifier is a lens that enlarges one spot while the rest of the frame stays put — useful for calling out a small detail.

Is zoom free in ScreenTailor?

Yes. Every editing tool, including zoom and emphasis, is free. The free plan caps each recording at 5 minutes and adds a small watermark on export; a 14-day Pro trial and a one-time Lifetime license ($39) remove both.
